Use of Wireless Radio-Frequency Devices in Hospitals Conclusions.
"Wireless RF transmitting devices such as cellular telephones and two-way radios can interfere with medical devices and present a real risk when used in close proximity to sensitive equipment. The diversity of RF sources operating over a broad spectrum of frequencies (both in and around hospital settings) makes it is difficult to predict EMI risks, particularly in critical care units where patients are connected to a range of sophisticated electronic medical equipment. Comprehensive and collaborative approaches are needed to address EMI in hospitals including education, risk assessment and management, guideline and policy development, regulation, and research."

FDA/CDRH Recommendations for EMI in Healthcare Facilities
Of particular interest is the safe use of cellular and wireless communications equipment in the vicinity of medical devices.
"The designation of areas of the facility where the use of common hand-held RF transmitters (e.g., cellular and PCS telephones, two-way radios) by staff, visitors, and/or patients is to be managed or restricted."
